Veterans Application

Hale County Meals on Wheels is the recipient of three grants that allow our organization to deliver meals free of charge to veterans, their dependent spouses and their surviving spouses.  This funding will enable Hale County Meals on Wheels to provide a home delivered meal free of charge at noon each weekday to qualified veterans, their dependent spouses or surviving spouses living in the city limits of Plainview or in the Seth Ward community.

 

 

Hale County Meals on Wheels is the recipient of three grants that allow our organization to deliver meals free of charge to veterans, their dependent spouses and their surviving spouses:

 

  • Funding for meals for Walmart Meals for Texas Heroes is provided to Hale County Meals on Wheels through a grant from the Walmart Foundation.  Meals for eligible recipients will be provided with grant funds beginning in June 2017 and will continue until grant funds are exhausted.  Eligible recipients must meet the following criteria: be homebound or need assistance to leave home, be unable to prepare a well-balanced meal each day, be over age 65, and are ineligible for meal assistance under state and federal programs based solely on age, income and disability. Walmart

 

 

  • Another grant through the Texas Veteran’s Commission begins July 1, 2017 and will continue until June 30, 2018.  This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families.  Eligible veterans, their spouses, and surviving spouses who are over the age of 65 and would not otherwise qualify for meal assistance under state programs based solely on age, income and disability.
